Nii nad sõdivad / So they fight
Since the outset of the full-scale war, Raag has returned to Ukraine again and again as a volunteer aid worker and filmmaker, witnessing the war alongside hospitaliers, soldiers, medical personnel and even comedians. Among them are both Ukrainians and foreigners who have joined the fight against Russian aggression. Raag has gained access to places untouched by mainstream media, spending months among those who voluntarily dedicate their time and effort - often at great personal risk - to the survival of their nation. The film presents a kaleidoscopic view of the war, revealing how, despite working toward a common goal, the characters do not shy away from criticising the government or each other. Whether through a stand-up performance aimed at political shortcomings or candid reflections on disorganised logistics, the film does not gloss over the harsh realities Ukraine faces today. SO THEY FIGHT is a tribute to the resilience and determination of volunteers. Director / Ilmar Raag
